Staffing levels at our nursery meet or exceed those laid down by Ofsted regulations. Everyone we employ is carefully selected, passionate about the development of children and work towards an extremely high standard of early childhood education.
We seek individuals with a right mix of qualifications, experience and character. All staff are supported in their development through a comprehensive staff appraisal system, covering their personal and professional training needs. Full access will be provided through Early Years and Childcare Services and any other outside agencies that offer the required training.
All staff are encouraged to regularly attend training courses and where appropriate these are kept up to date e.g First Aid, Health & Hygiene, Safe guarding etc. Regular staff meetings will be held and training is discussed at these meetings. All long term staff, volunteers and students must complete Early Years Foundation Stage Training.
This nursery will ensure the stability of care for each and every child attending. Every child will be issued a Key Person within a month of enrolment. A Key Person is responsible for liaising with the child’s carer, informing the carer of activities in which the child has participated. She/he has the responsibility for monitoring each child’s development in the seven areas of learning outcomes. She/he will share each child’s development with their carer on a regular basis and work with them if any child needs any extra assistance in reaching the desirable learning outcomes. She/he will not be with any child every minute of the day as we encourage interaction between all staff and children – but she/he will keep a watchful eye on him/her. Each child’s Key Person’s name will be displayed on the notice board.
One Person, One Language (OPOL) is the most common family language system in use. Our French educators will consistently speak only one language to the children and each other. It helps tremendously for children to hear that one person isn’t the only one who speaks this language. Children are savvy little creatures who are quite capable of reasoning that they don’t really need to know a language if it is only spoken by one other person.
